From the northernmost reaches of the Arctic Circle at Hope Bay to our sites "Down Under" in Australia, Newmont offers an entire world of opportunity for our employees. Because our talent spans five continents, cultural sharing and learning among people of various nationalities enhances diversity throughout the company.
International Assignments
As an international company, Newmont offers employees the opportunity to work all over the world. Expatriates (expats), or people working outside their home countries, fill critical roles while they train and mentor nationals to eventually fill those positions. Our Developmental Assignment Program then develops their skills and provides cultural awareness training. It includes formal education through universities and/or technical workshops.
These assignments, ranging in length from three months to three years, allow for a cross-cultural exchange of information and build a more diverse work force. Many of these jobs are highly technical, requiring specialized skills not readily found. One of an expat's key responsibilities is to transfer specialized knowledge and skills to the local work force. Once assignments are complete, we work to reassign employees to other locations in need or back to their home countries to retain our talent investment.
