For nearly 20 years, Newmont Waihi Gold has been enriching the lives of students and strengthening itsvlocal educational institutions through the Waihi Gold Education Trust.
Established in 1992, the mine has given $580,000 in student scholarships and financial support for the school. Students have earned $122,000 of that in scholarships. The balance of funding supports projects and provides equipment that enhances the educational opportunities available to the school’s students.
In 2011, seven Waihi College students each received $2,000 scholarships as they embark on tertiary education.
