To build new enterprises to help sustain the Cajamarca community well into the future, Minera Yanacocha sponsored three-month baking and pastry classes for former landowners’ children. Fourteen young adults recently graduated from the program which was led by SENATI-Zonal Cajamarca, a well-known technical facility.
Edwin Amoretti, the operation’s social responsibility manager, attended the graduation ceremony. He encouraged the students to pursue sustainable projects that will allow them to secure better futures.
“Thanks to Yanacocha’s support, I was able to learn a new trade and know there are possibilities of pursuing our own business in the labor world,” said Jessica Infantes Chilón, program graduate.
